What is Tallow?

Grace Bloom tallow is a nutrient-rich moisturizer crafted from premium suet and leaf fat sourced from grass-fed cattle. Our specially selected fat, which surrounds the kidneys, heart, and loins, is naturally rich in stearic acid and conjugated linoleic acid - vital fatty acids that

mirror your skin's natural molecular structure for deep nourishment.

-Our toxic-free formula begins with carefully rendered (slowly melted down) beef tallow. This traditional process preserves the fat's natural healing properties, delivering essential nutrients and antioxidants that work in harmony with your skin.

-Each small batch is mindfully rendered and blended with organic essential oils in Durango, where we transform this nutrient-dense fat into a luxurious moisturizer that maintains its exceptional quality and freshness.

-Sourced exclusively from a local regenerative farm that prioritize sustainable practices and animal welfare, our tallow supports both healthy skin and a healthy planet while preserving traditional craftsmanship.

  • What is tallow?
Tallow is rendered (boiled down) beef fat. In particular, we use suet or leaf fat that surrounds kidneys, heart and loins. This fat is higher in nutrients and contains important fatty acids, such as stearic acid and conjugated linoleic acid. Tallow is different from lard, which comes from pork.
  • Why is tallow good for your skin?
Intensive moisturizer, tallow shares a similar biology to our human skin and provides deep hydration and moisturize deeper than other products. Tallow has vitamins A, D, K, E & B12 and minerals. Vitamin A (retinol) helps produce fresh, new cells & can improve wrinkles. Vitamin D is anti-inflammatory, helps prevent skin from aging damage. Tallow has ample essential fatty acids. Such as: 1.Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA): Conjugated Linoleic Acid aka CLA is an essential fatty acid that is responsible for the free flowing of moisture in and out of our cells. 2. Omega 7: basic building block of our skin 3. Palmitic acid: helps protect our skin barrier 4. Stearic acid: helps repair damage & improve flexibility, elasticity 5. Vitamin E: very important fat-soluble antioxidant, helps protect the skin from UV damage, soothes irritated skin 6. Vitamin A (retinol, retinoic acid) has antioxidants that might protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation. Tallow also creates a skin barrier that is soothing and is helpful for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, as it aids in preventing environmental factors from irritating the skin.
  • What is the difference between whip and balm?
Whip has a fluffy, velvety feel to it that is easy to rub into the skin and ideal for larger parts of the body. It is lighter and therefore can be used on your face before make-up. Balm has more of a salve consistency, that can be used on areas that need extra nourishment like elbows, heals, armpits and eczema patches. The balm is also ideal for babies with dry skin on the head & diaper rashes.
  • Is all tallow the same?
Nope. We use grass-fed and grass-finished tallow, as they contain high amounts of conjugated linoleic acid. This also means that the cows are not fed GMO’s, corn, soy or antibiotics. Our tallow is also from a regenerative farm that uses practices such as rotational grazing pastures and focuses on soil health.
  • What is the quality of your ingredients?
Quality, quality, quality. I first fell in love with tallow for the quality of the product and its nutritional profile. I liked putting something on my face, I could also eat. This is important because your skin is your largest organ, where it gets absorbed and on to the blood stream! I try to use organic as much as possible. Not all of the essential oils I use are regularly available as organic, as they are rare and difficult to procure. My castor oil is hexane free. I also try to use amber glass containers, as much as they are available.
  • Is tallow suitable for all skin types?
Tallow offers multiple benefits for the skin. It deeply moisturizes and conditions the skin, thanks to its fat-soluble vitamins and fatty acids which are similar to those found in the outermost layer of human skin. Tallow is considered non-comedogenic for its ability not to clog pores. Tallow is also known for its ability to strengthen the skin's natural barrier, making it resilient against environmental stressors. If you have sensitive skin, they first try our unscented tallow products on a test patch of your skin, after consulting with your medical provider.
